Thanks, guys!

Winners of the Quantazelle remix contest were announced last week by the Chicago laptop jockey herself, aka Liz McLean Knight. The idea behind the project wasn’t to turn a Quantazelle track into Ibiza-grade bubble foam but to make use of odds and sods from the extensive sample library she’s assembled over the years. The winners, production duo Technobears, have previously won remix contests held by Yoko Ono and the Pretenders.

Who’s that girl with the headphones on the iGo rack cards and ads? It’s Quantazelle!.

iGo is a nonprofit car sharing program in Chicago (and in other cities as part of the Flexcar network). Members pay by the hour at a rate depending on the plan, and you never have to pay for gas or insurance. It’s an affordable, eco-friendly alternative to owning a car in the city.

As part of a marketing push to get more musicians (and others) as members, Quantazelle (aka Liz McLean Knight) was chosen since she is a member and uses the cars to get to and from music gigs, and likes the fact that hours are free between midnight and 6am, since most events run well past midnight.

Quantazelle will be DJing (as Liz Revision) at the iGO Audio Release Party at the Metro on Thursday, May 31.
